Marine Restoration

The MRU restores environmentally sensitive marine habitats that have been damaged by anthropogenic and natural events. We apply innovative methods to both restore and enhance the benthic habitat structure and the biological components of the reef. For instance, we have developed and implemented techniques for reattaching and transplanting hard corals, soft corals, sponges, and submerged aquatic vegetation. Our key personnel have also worked directly with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to develop nurseries for Threatened and Endangered (T&E) coral species in the Caribbean.

Our marine restoration services include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Habitat restoration & enhancement
  • Coral reef restoration & relocation
  • Coral nursery development
  • Active coral population enhancement
  • Coral triage, cashing, & site selection
  • Rubble assessment & stabilization
  • Seagrass harvesting & transplant
  • Artificial reef design & deployment

Some of our marine restoration projects are featured here as representative examples of our expertise and previous experience.
