Marine Response

The MRU provides vessel support and scientific, working, and commercial divers for emergency restoration efforts in response to anthropogenic and natural disasters. We have performed these marine response services for multiple vessel groundings in the Caribbean, particularly in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We have also provided these services in response to storms, military operations, oil spills, and other causes of physical impacts to the marine environment.

The MRU also provides an assortment of supplies, materials, and equipment for emergency marine responses; our equipment can be deployed within 24 hours from the notice to proceed. Our marine response services include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Emergency response to physical impact sites
  • Equipment mobilization/demobilization
  • Site assessments & inventory of damage
  • Ecological surveys & mapping of debris/damage
  • Marine debris removal (e.g., fishing gear, munitions constituents, rubble)
  • Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDAs)

Some of our projects which involve marine response efforts are featured here as representative examples of our expertise and previous experience.
